I am Akemi Shimazawa, a ceramic student at Det Kongelige Akademi, currently in the second year of my bachelor’s degree (as of February 2026). I create functional ceramics such as cups and teapots using throwing, and I also make objects through hand-building. I currently use a gas kiln for most of my work. I am investigating local and waste materials, which I plan to use for both glazes and clay bodies. I draw inspiration from both nature and the human body.
I have recently returned from an exchange program in Japan, which greatly inspired me, particularly in terms of my aesthetic sensibility.
